Client testimonials and support
"Rolls-Royce was a founder member of the Employer's Assistance Scheme and has benefited greatly from the expert advice offered by DATS. Our Human Resources and Occupational Health departments found the presentations, professional training and policy support invaluable and in our view, all businesses can benefit from such specialist advice and services. We beleive that employers have a major part to play in supporting professionals engaged, one way or another, in addressing drug and alcohol misuse issues. Businesses are affected by substance misuse and have a responsibility to play their part in helping professionals such as DATS, both within the workforce, and in the community at large. Indeed without the resources and energy that businesses can provide, DATS are fighting with one arm tied behind their backs."
Roger James ~ Community Relations Manager, Rolls-Royce
"The TUC is pleased to welcome this initiative by DATS. protecting the health, safety and welfare of employees must be at the heart of any business that wants to be successful. This can only be done through the full participation of the workforce and the trade unions. This scheme recognises the vital role that employees can play in helping themselves and their colleagues in dealing with alcohol and drug abuse and addiction. There is more to workplace drug and alcohol policy than testing. This scheme will assist employers and their staff by giving easy access to advice, training and support services leading to an effective policy which testing alone can never do."
Tom Mellish ~ TUC Health and Safety Policy Officer
"The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) supports this Employer's Assistance Scheme. It is important that companies are properly informed and have a realistic picture of drugs and alcohol in the workplace."

"Stokes plc is the largest independent greengrocer in England with 72 stores based in most major towns in the South West. With approximately 850 members of staff recruited from the local community, we are very aware of the current culture of drugs and alcohol, and the problems that they can create within the workplace. In order to address our serious concerns regarding substance misuse at work, we initially joined the Employer's Assistance Scheme offered by the Drug and Alcohol Training Service of South Gloucestershire's Drug Action team. DATS provided extensive consultation services and support in the implementation of a comprehensive drug and alcohol workplace policy, trained management and key staff and provided information to enable us to raise awareness for all employees, their families and friends, as well as access to free, local treatment, in all areas of operation, if ever required. At Stokes, we are now very positive that we will be able to achieve our aims of having a safer and healthier workplace and offering a better support system to employees to encourage a culture with high staff retention, whilst also controlling management costs."
Meriel Sutton ~ Health and Safety Officer, Stokes plc
"TransThomas Ltd is a family run business that has spanned three generations. We are well known in our local area of South Gloucestershire and our work comes primarily from personal referrals. Many of our contracts are with large, national household names - a testimony to the exceptional quality of service we have been able to provide. We have recognised the same dedication to quality in the service provided to us by DATS, who have worked closely with us to develop a bespoke Drug and Alcohol policy for our company and also provided a tailor made package to raise awareness amongst our employees of the issues associated with substance misuse in the workplace. This is of vital importance to our business, which involves us in many safety critical areas where health, safety and welfare of our employees and the public is paramount. We have no hesitation in recommending the DATS team and as members of their Employer's Assistance Scheme, we are assured that should an issue arise where we require information, advice and / or support, they are only a telephone call away."
Kriss Thomas ~ Proprietor, TransThomas Ltd
Merloni Elettrodomestici UK ~ "Drugs and alcohol at work is not a new phenomenon. What is new is the realisation that there is something we can do to help those who have the misfortune to rely on drugs and / or alcohol to get them through their daily lives. It is in this role that organisations such as the DATS team have a major role to play in supporting industry and commerce. As a Member, we have benefited from the expertise available from the DATS team who have assisted us with the development of our drugs and alcohol policy, its introduction to our workforce and in helping our people to a greater understanding and awareness of the dangers of drugs and alcohol."
