Testing and human rights
We do not provide a drug and alcohol testing facility, but we can very quickly provide details of a variety of reputable and approved companies that do provide these professional services.
However, DATS is able to give independent advice on the benefits and disadvantages of individual types of testing, these include:
- Testing at initial selection interview
- Random testing
- Testing with cause
- Routine testing
- Testing prior to returning to work from treatment
DATS, along with the European and British Courts, believes that testing is a delicate and private matter for all concerned. There should also be an agreed appropriate reason as to why this should take place within the workplace. There are issues of infringing people’s personal liberty, any possible stigma that may follow with work colleagues etc.
